“Green Book” star Frank Vallelonga Jr. († 60) is dead
A body discovered on a New York sidewalk earlier this week is that of actor Fran Vallelonga Jr. He became known through the Oscar-winning film Green Book.

The lifeless body of a male person was found in the Bronx district of New York early Monday morning – on Thursday it was certain that the dead person was actor Frank Vallelonga Jr. († 60). He is best known for the film Green Book, the story of his father, Frank Vallelonga Sr. (1930-2013), better known as bouncer Tony Lip. Vallelonga Jr. starred himself. His brother Nick (63) directed.
Melissa Prophet (66), the spokeswoman for the American, confirmed her client’s death and spoke of “a shocking tragedy”. According to information from the “New York Post”, the 60-year-old’s body was dumped at a metal factory, other sources report that it had previously been thrown out of a car.
The police said in a statement that they had only been able to determine Vallelonga’s death and were investigating the cause of his death. There are apparently no signs of violence by third parties. However, US media report evidence of a drug overdose.
“Green Book” was best film
“Green Book” won an Oscar for Best Picture in 2019 – it is the most prestigious award in the industry. The story is about Vallelonga’s father Tony Lip, who accompanied the black pianist Don Shirley (1927-2013) on his tour as a chauffeur in the still segregated USA in the 1960s. (read)
