With crutches, Francine Jordi (45) had to rehearse the moderation of “The Big New Year’s Eve Show” (SRF 1, from 8.15 p.m.) with her new stage partner, “Bergdoktor” Hans Sigl (53). A few days before the TV spectacle was recorded, she injured herself at a concert.
Blick: How is your knee, Mrs. Jordi?
Francine Jordi: Thank you for your concern. The knee will keep me busy for a while, but everything will be fine.
Do you pay enough attention to your health?
My health is very important to me. I couldn’t do my job without the help of my body. But of course you can always do more for your health.
Did you get rich presents at Christmas?
Now that I’ve been “on the road” continuously for almost half a year, the greatest gift for me is to be able to spend time with my family and friends again. I definitely missed out on those moments.
Instead of giving, many people donate. How do you feel about this?
I am happy to make regular donations to fixed organizations throughout the year. I am also aware that I am in a privileged position to be able to donate at all.
Why should we definitely watch your New Year’s Eve show?
Because like the last eight years, in which I was allowed to moderate the show, it is again a very entertaining and varied, big party. And because you want to know what the stars have in store for us next year.
Are celebrating and having fun even appropriate?
At the moment we have a lot of problems that are keeping us busy and we are only being bombarded with negative reports every day. That’s why it’s important right now that you have fun again and forget everyday life for a moment. Also the energy of hope that next year will be easier and better again! Hope and love are the most important energies that help us to endure and process blows of fate and setbacks.
Have you ever seen a year as crazy as 2022?
Seen in the history books, yes, but never experienced such a sky-high rejoicing and being saddened to death.
What would you like to experience again?
Christmas Eve is always the best day for me. Maybe because he is full of hope and love.
And what would you like to do without?
To all the power-hungry people who actually only look after their own well-being and profit and who don’t care about people and nature.
How do you console yourself when you almost despair from sheer catastrophes and misery?
I have to admit that I don’t want to put my psyche through all the headlines and bad news. I only read the most important things and only once a day. I want to fill the rest of the day with positive energy.
Have you made your good resolutions yet?
No, and I don’t make any resolutions either.
Do you have any vices that you would like to get rid of?
I would like to become even more relaxed and patient, not to take my perfectionism and my demands on myself so seriously. But I’ve been at it for a long time and it will keep me busy for a long time.
What are your specific wishes for the new year?
I wish that there would be more of a “we” in this world and that we humans would become even more aware that nature does not depend on us, but we on nature.
And what are you particularly looking forward to?
In January I’m taking a whole month off. I’m looking forward to.
How satisfied are you with yourself and your life on a scale from 1 to 100?
90. I always do my best, but you can always work on yourself and change something.
What are you missing for absolute happiness?
I don’t think there is such a thing as absolute happiness. If we can get up ourselves every morning and take responsibility for the day, I believe that you are very lucky in your life.
To what extent are we responsible for our own success?
I believe very strongly that everyone can contribute a lot to their success, but also to failure, through personal responsibility. But what is success and failure? For example, success for me is not defined by money and power, but by love and joy.
Do you believe in destiny and providence – or is our life made up of coincidences?
I believe in people’s personal responsibility. For example: Not one partner is responsible for my happiness, but everyone is responsible for themselves.
Where do you draw strength from when you don’t know what to do anymore?
I go for a walk with my labrador Theo and sort my thoughts.
