Prince Harry has given two interviews for the publication of his memoir “Spare”. They will be broadcast next weekend.
How is it really between Prince Harry (38), his father, King Charles III. (74), and Prince William (40)? Two new interviews given by Prince Harry give another glimpse into the family rift his departure from royal duties has brought. “I would like my father back. I would like my brother back, »said the renegade royal in several excerpts of a conversation that the British broadcaster ITV advertised with a short trailer on Monday.
In the interview, Harry makes it clear: “I want a family, not an institution.” And: “It never should have come to this.” He also complains that he and his wife Meghan (41) are portrayed as villains and that there was “absolutely no will for reconciliation” from the other side. The talk is scheduled to air next Sunday, just two days before the scheduled release of Harry’s memoir.
“Never complain, never explain” doesn’t actually exist
The US broadcaster CBS has already announced an interview about the book called “Spare” (German title: “Reserve”), which is described as “explosive”. In an interview with ex-Newsanchor Anderson Cooper (55), Harry refers to the accusation that he is always the center of attention, even though he wanted to retire from life as a royal in California. “Whenever I tried to do it privately and quietly, there were briefings and stories against me and my wife.”
The family motto “Never complain, never explain” (German: “Never complain, never explain”) is only a motto for the public. There are endless complaints and explanations from Buckingham Palace, with a lot of information coming from the royal family. “And at the end it says that Buckingham Palace was asked to make a statement. But the whole story comes from Buckingham Palace itself.” He had come to a point where silence was cheating.
Royal fans are eagerly awaiting Harry’s memoir
The allegations are not new: In the Netflix documentary, he often blamed the palace staff or the tabloid media for the family quarrel – less often his brother and father. It is eagerly awaited whether he will make further concrete allegations in the memoirs.
Harry and Meghan had fallen out with the other royals and broke away from the inner circle of the royal family about three years ago. Harry had particularly fallen out with his father, King Charles III, and his brother Prince William, who is now heir to the throne. Public statements and allegations, for example in a TV interview with US talk show legend Oprah Winfrey (68), had deepened the ditch. There was no reconciliation that was hoped for either after the death of Prince Philips in 2021 or after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September last year. Most recently, Harry and Meghan poured fuel on the fire with a six-part Netflix docu-series in which they present their point of view. (imh/SDA)
