The cause of death is currently unknown and will be announced as soon as it is known,” writes Judith A. Moose. “She was a wonderfully gifted soul whose legacy will live on forever through her music and films.”
Oscar for two film songs
Irene Cara had her biggest hits with the title songs of the films “Fame – The Road to Glory” (1980) and “Flashdance” (1983). Both titles won the Oscar for the best film song. She also had an active acting career, playing the lead role of dancer Coco Hernandez in the film “Fame”.
Irene Cara may also be remembered by the Swiss as a duet partner of DJ Bobo (54). The new edition of the “Flashdance” classic “What A Feeling” became a big hit in 2001 in German-speaking countries.
