The news shocked fans of Marvel star Jeremy Renner (52) at the beginning of the year: the American was run over by a snow plow while skiing – in the meantime he was in critical condition. Part of his chest had collapsed and he sustained more than 30 fractures.
Now the US media have new details showing how the accident happened. Renner’s snow groomer threatened to slide sideways during a snowstorm – when the actor noticed that the vehicle was rolling towards his nephew, he wanted to get back into the truck – after he had left it in the meantime. During the attempt, Renner got under the rollers on the left side – this is according to a report that is available to the broadcaster CNN.
His nephew was unharmed – and was said to be one of the first people on site to provide first aid. Because of the snow flurry, it took up to an hour before Renner could be flown to a hospital.
The US media also reports that Renner forgot to pull the emergency brake the first time he got out of his snow cat. A report has now come to the conclusion that even if the handbrake was on, the accident could not have been prevented – the brake indicator in the snow groomer, for example, did not work: It is “quite possible that mechanical problems were a factor in this accident”.
