“The neighbors from above” brings together four of the currently most popular Swiss actors and actresses: Sarah Spale (41), Ursina Lardi (51), Max Simonischek (40) and Roeland Wiesnekker (55) meet for a tragi-comic exchange of blows about relationships, sex and the unfulfilled Expectations. Blick met director Sabine Boss (57) and leading actress Sarah Spale in Zurich’s Volkshaus for an interview.

Blick: The screenplay for “The Neighbors from Above” is based on the Spanish cinema hit “Sentimental”. Why a remake of a film that was only two years old?
Sabine Boss: We thought that this was a story that could be told universally and across languages. The story has already been re-filmed in other countries, such as Italy. But we didn’t want to do a remake, we wanted to make something of our own out of it. That was also the reason why I came on board. We developed the material further, added scenes, changed the characters.
