Now Michael Wendler (50) has also drawn his daughter into a legal dispute: the scandalous pop singer has been arguing with the music collecting society GEMA for years. Wendler believes that, as the alleged author of his songs, he is still entitled to 42,825 euros. However, GEMA has frozen the payments because there were “justified doubts about the entitlement to distribution”.
Every time one of his songs is played in clubs or at folk festivals, society pays money to the author, but to this day it has not been clarified whether he is really responsible for all the songs. When Wendler released his first album, he was registered as the author with GEMA. At the same time as his bankruptcy, his wife at the time was suddenly named as the author. Particularly striking: When Claudia Norberg (52) filed for bankruptcy with her record company, the rights were transferred back to Wendler. The dispute is currently being carried out in court, where daughter Adeline Norberg (20) has taken sides for her father.
«My father composed all the songs himself»
Norberg testified in a video call on October 31, 2022. The “image” now has a record of the interrogation. “My father composed all the songs himself. He played guitar and piano. He also wrote down grades. He did that at home and in the recording studio. I saw him correct grades. My father can read music and he can also play the piano, »said Norberg.
Her mother, on the other hand, had never had anything to do with music. “She can’t write lyrics either. I would like to add that my mother is not musically talented at all. I don’t want to give the impression that she’s talented. I can safely say that my mother would not be able to compose and write lyrics », Norberg continues. She doesn’t know what her mother did all day.
Ex-manager claims the opposite
Not true at all, claims Heiko Schulte-Siering (55). From 2007 to 2009 he was Michael Wendler’s manager. “I think Adeline lied for her father in court. I know for sure that Michael can’t read music, let alone write or correct it,” he told the “Bild”. He also couldn’t play a single musical instrument. «The piano in his house was only there for decoration because he wanted to feel like Udo Jürgens. But Michael wouldn’t even have been able to play ‘Alle meine Entchen’ on it,” says Schulte-Siering. For a press event, he was later only taught to play his hit “She loves the DJ” with one finger. “It sounded like a toddler tinkling,” his ex-manager rants.
Because of her age, Heiko Schulte-Siering has serious doubts about the accuracy of Adeline Norberg’s statement: “How can a child testify credibly as a witness after such a long time? The titles in question were created between 2006 and 2012, when Adeline was between 4 and 10 years young! » Michael Wendler left a request from “Bild” unanswered. (bsn)
