Lucas Cordalis lost his father three and a half years ago.
The jungle camp has a very special meaning for Lucas Cordalis (55). His father, Costa Cordalis (1944-2019), was the first winner of “I’m a star – get me out of here!” out. Now the pop singer wants to follow in his footsteps. On the fifth day in the Australian jungle, Cordalis spoke openly to Cosimo Citiolo (41) about the loss of his father.
Costa Cordalis died of organ failure in 2019 after prolonged health problems. Unimaginable for Citiolo. “I don’t even want to know what it would be like for me if my father weren’t there anymore,” says the former “DSDS” candidate. Cordalis can still clearly remember the anniversary of his father’s death. “I witnessed his last hours, his last breath. I felt his last heartbeat,” says Cordalis.
“It tears your heart out”
His tear-filled eyes and cracked voice show how close the loss is to him. “I was out somewhere, my mother was alone with him. Then she said, come upstairs quickly, somehow something is very strange. I go upstairs and in fact, shortly after that he died, »said Cordalis.
Costa Cordalis was his everything. Father and son did everything together, were like best friends. “I learned everything from him.” After his death, he was supported by his family. “It was a shitty time. But the worst thing – I haven’t told anyone that yet – was the moment when he was picked up. It rips your heart out, »says Cordalis. Now he’s looking down at him from above. “And he thinks, what are those two idiots doing there!” jokes Citiolo encouragingly. It works: Cordalis smiles. (bsn)
