As is well known, the best comes last: At the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year, the successful Bernese DJane Carol Fernandez (36) hangs up in a luxury resort in the Maldives – including fine dining and a private bungalow. “It’s just fantastic here,” says Fernandez to Blick. «There is no other place where you have such direct contact with the sea and the sand. There are no cars, no traffic. You feel particularly connected to nature and switch off automatically.»
The Bern native has been on the picturesque archipelago since shortly before Christmas, where she DJs at pool parties every day. “The people at the hotel have become my second family,” explains Fernandez, who has been booked exclusively for the holidays for the second time. Between her DJ sets, the musician goes swimming and diving every day. “The colors here are beautiful and intense. I see dolphins, corals and fish every day, amazing!”
Fernandez considers emigrating
The Bern native had her biggest performance in paradise on New Year’s Eve: “I played on a huge stage with animation dancers, a live band, acrobats and fireworks. That was a party in a class of its own!» No doubt Carol Fernandez has given her heart to the Maldives and is thinking aloud about emigrating. Fernandez: «I would like to live here. In the Maldives you experience a feeling of freedom like nowhere else.»
