Gina Lollobrigida is dead. She was one of Italy’s greatest film divas.
The Italian film icon Gina Lollobrigida († 95) has died. She was once considered the most beautiful woman in the world and had a great reputation in Hollywood until her death. But no matter how glamorous the Italian life was, there was a lot of rumbling behind the scenes before her death. She even broke contact with her son Milko Skofic Jr. (65) and her grandson Dimitri Skofic (29). Now there is a risk of an inheritance dispute.
Until her death, the actress was exposed to a dispute with her descendants about her assistant Andrea Piazzola (35). He accompanied her for more than twelve years, her son and grandson accuse Lollobrigida’s confidante of wanting to enrich himself. At the end of 2021, they obtained the incapacitation of the film diva in a legal dispute. She was assigned a guardian who oversaw Lollobrigida’s financial decisions. A step that “Lollo” never understood: “I didn’t do anything bad,” she said in a TV interview.
Did Lollobrigida note her assistant in the will?
The demand for criminal proceedings that the Roman public prosecutor’s office brought against Piazzola in 2019 caused a stir: he is said to have exploited a person of sound mind and stole part of the diva’s assets. He is said to have offered around 350 items belonging to Lollobrigida through an intermediary in auction houses, according to reports in the Italian media. He is also said to have sold three of her apartments in Rome and bought luxury items with the proceeds of around two million francs.
Lollobrigida never wanted to know anything about that. «Andrea is my salvation. I love him like a son. I like him because he deserves it, »she said about her assistant in an interview with RTL in December 2021. She also describes Piazzola as her «greatest luck». So it is quite possible that she had noted her companion in the will. On the other hand, she did not have many good words left about her son. “He doesn’t know he’s working against his own mother. He just wants the money and that’s it.”
“I should be allowed to die in peace”
The family dispute has added to Lollobrigida. Before her death, she complained: “At my age, I should actually have a little peace. But I don’t have that. I am tired. I should be allowed to die in peace. I don’t deserve to be humiliated like this.” And it looks like the argument about their money should now go into the next round. (imh)
