King Charles III actually wanted a different name for son Prince Harry, whose real name is Henry.
If after King Charles III. (74) had gone, Prince Harry (38) would not bear his nickname or his real name Henry today. The then prince had a completely different idea for his son. But his then-wife, Princess Diana (1961-1997), finally prevailed. How Harry should actually be baptized, he now reveals in his new book “Spare” (German: Reserve).

The royals are known for naming their children after ancestors. Therefore, Charles’ first choice would have been Albert – as a tribute to Harry’s great-grandfather, King George VI. (1895–1952), whose full name was Albert Frederick Arthur George. Diana intervened. Albert is now only third in Harry’s name, which is fully Henry Charles Albert David. Albert is also the middle name of his uncle, Prince Andrew (62).
Princess Beatrice would have had a different name
The first names of members of the royal family are so important that they always had to be approved by Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). After her death, names will probably have to be approved by King Charles. The Queen took action on Prince Andrew’s first daughter, Princess Beatrice (34). Sarah Ferguson (63) originally wanted to name her daughter Annabelle. But the name was too modern for the Queen. She wanted something more old-fashioned and traditional. That’s why she suggested Beatrice Elizabeth Mary. This combination of names pays homage to Queen Victoria’s (1837-1901) youngest daughter, Beatrice of Great Britain and Ireland (1857-1944), and herself. (lob)
