US series star Annie Wersching died in Los Angeles on Sunday morning at the age of 45, her press spokesman confirmed to US media. The American was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, against which she has now lost a three-year battle. Even after the diagnosis, Wersching continued to work as an actress. It is unclear what type of cancer she suffered from. Wersching kept her diagnosis secret for a long time.
After the death of his wife, Wersching’s widowed husband Stephen Full (53) published heartbreaking words: “There is a big hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill them. She found the miracle in the simplest moment. She didn’t need music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And we’ll find it.’
“She became a real friend”
The film portal “Rotten Tomatoes” lists Wersching in 28 series and two film roles, including “Vampire Diaries”, “Runaways”, “Star Trek: Enterprise” and many more. Most recently, Wersching also made a name for herself with her voice in the video game “The Last of Us”.
After her death, “24” director Jon Cassar (64) also paid tribute to his actress at the time: “My heart is broken into more pieces than I can count,” Cassar told the industry portal “Deadline”. “Annie came into my world with an open heart and an infectious smile. She took my breath away with her great talent. Annie became more than just a co-worker, she became a true friend to me, my family and all the actors and crew that worked with her. Annie we will miss you, you made your mark and we’re all better off.” (kes)
