Sophia Thiel (27) reports to her fans with a health update. The fitness influencer (1.3 million Instagram followers) lost her good friend and fitness partner Verena Sam a few weeks ago, who died of cancer. At that time, Thiel wrote on Instagram: “Verena, you fighter, I was so sure that you would kick this damn dirty cancer’s butt and we would travel to Los Angeles together again. It literally breaks my heart that you lost the fight.”
She told her followers in a video how much she was struggling with the loss. “I have extreme mood swings, depressive episodes, and old, dysfunctional behaviors are coming back.” The social media star has long struggled with eating disorders and mental health problems. Thiel speaks openly about these topics in her contributions.
Sophia Thiel talks about “mental challenge”
In a new YouTube clip, Thiel once again addresses its community. Many would have asked again and again how she was doing, how her training was going and how she was doing with her eating disorder. Sophia Thiel therefore gives an insight into her current emotional world: “Because these blatant emotions overwhelmed me, from bewilderment, sadness, anger, I thought I had to eat somehow. As if I had so many feelings and emotions that it would tear me up if I didn’t do it.”
But it didn’t feel like a relapse into her old behavior pattern, but “more like a mental challenge”. Sophia Thiel noticed that she had to take great care of herself in such moments. She also gets support from her therapist, with whom she has learned to state more and more clearly what she needs at the moment and to pay attention to her needs. (paf)
