They are a piece of Swiss music history: the Trio Eugster with Alex, Vic and Guido Eugster.
It is sad news that folk music fans reach shortly before the turn of the year: Viktor “Vic” Eugster died on Saturday morning at the age of 82. His brother confirmed this when asked by SRF.
Together with his siblings Alex (85) and Guido (1936-2021), he made a name for himself throughout Switzerland under the name Trio Eugster. The three were known for songs like “Oh läck Du mier”, “Ganz de Bappe” or “Now de Buuch has to go”. Their 20 albums have sold more than two million copies.
She had her own TV show
Her TV show “Iischtige please” was the culmination of her career. “We were very challenged, because we had to learn how to moderate completely. A train station was built especially for us. An adventure », Guido Eugster once recalled. Jürg Moser, music editor of SRF Musikwelle, even describes the trio as “Switzerland’s first boy band”.
In the mid-1980s, the Trio Eugster began to slow down. Vic Eugster explained in a Blick interview in 2017: “The music had changed, we should have modernized our program, but we didn’t feel like it anymore. We were also in our late 40s.”
Tried a lot professionally
In addition to the family music project, Viktor “Vic” Eugster was also on stage as a singing duo together with folk music king Sepp Trütsch (73). Professionally, he was changeable and worked, among other things, as a surveyor, singer, music producer and, most recently, as a restaurateur. (bnr)
In memory of Vic Eugster, SRF 1 is changing the program: on Sunday, January 1, at 2:30 p.m., the show “Schlagersommer – Nostalgie Trio Eugster” will be broadcast. This will be followed by the musical «Oh läck du mir!».
