Prince Harry (38) is currently causing a lot of excitement with his new book “Reserve”. In particular, Harry takes his brother Prince William (40) through the wringer. A new excerpt shows the siblings arguing over Harry’s therapy sessions.
According to the Duke of Sussex, William reached out to him following the 2019 Well Child Awards ceremony after watching Harry get emotional on TV. William then worried about his brother’s mental state. “He said I’m not feeling well. He said again that I needed help. I reminded him that I was in therapy. In fact, he recently told me he wanted to accompany me to a session because he suspected I was being ‘brainwashed’,” writes Harry.
William declined therapy invitation
He then invited his brother to a joint session with his therapist and told him it would be “good for you [und] good for us”. However, William refused. Therapy has alienated the once inseparable brothers.
«After working hard to become more aware and independent, I was a stranger to my older brother. He couldn’t relate to me anymore – tolerate me anymore. Or maybe it was just the stress of the last few years, the last few decades, that finally unloaded,” says Harry. Sometimes he reads through the exchange of messages with William and is amazed at how much their relationship has changed.
William is said to have grabbed Harry’s shirt
According to the Daily Mail, Harry also reports an incident in which William yelled at him. After Prince Philip’s funeral, Harry and William and the current King, Charles III, (74) a walk. The topic of conversation was the disclosure interview with Oprah Winfrey (68). When Harry wanted to discuss the allegations of bullying against Duchess Meghan (41), Charles did not listen – and William yelled at him.
“I waved my hand in disgust, but he jumped on me and grabbed my shirt,” Harry recalls. “Listen to me, Harold,” William urged. Harry backed away and avoided his eyes at first. “He made me look him in the eye.” Then he said: “Listen to me, Harold, listen to me! I love you Harold! I want you to be happy.” Harry replied: “I love you too … but your stubbornness is extraordinary!”
“I swear on Mummy’s life”
Harry slipped out of his grip, only for his brother to grab again and say, “Harold, you have to listen to me! I just want you to be happy, Harold. I swear it, I swear it on Mummy’s life.” After that sentence, all three would have stopped. ‘He had used the secret code, the universal password. Since we were children, these three words could only be used in times of extreme crisis, »explains Harry. In the end, the brothers hugged.
