Can no longer look each other in the eye: the British royals Prince William (left) and his younger brother Harry.
In a dispute between Prince Harry (38) and the Royals, it is said that it was not only distributed verbally. Harry claims in his eagerly awaited memoir “Spare” that his brother Prince William (40) physically attacked him.
Prince Harry claims his brother William physically attacked him after he described Meghan (41) as “difficult”, “rude” and “aggressive”. William “thrown the Duke of Sussex to the ground”. Harry apparently suffered visible injuries, he claims in his book, which will be published in German under the title “Reserve”.
William is said to have grabbed his younger brother by the collar and threw him to the ground, the Guardian quoted in advance from the autobiography. It is unclear how the newspaper obtained the excerpt.
Harry fled to the kitchen in fear
The dispute took place in London in 2019, in Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where the couple, who had been married for a year, lived. Harry accused his brother, who is now the Prince of Wales, of parroting “press reports” about his wife. First they yelled at each other, then it came to a physical altercation. “William grabbed my collar, tore my necklace and pushed me to the ground.” Harry injured his back.
The brothers met to speak out. To talk about her own failing relationship and struggles with the press. Heir to the throne William had already arrived “red hot”, writes Harry. They started arguing about Meghan. Harry accused William of being unreasonable. There was a shouting match.
William said he only wanted to help his brother. Harry: «Are you serious? Help me? Excuse me – is that what you call it? To help me?” This remark angered William so much that he cursed and walked towards him. Harry fled to the kitchen in fear. William followed him.
“Everything happened so fast”
He wanted to give William a glass of water to calm him down. Harry: “He put the glass down, called me another name, and then charged at me. Everything happened so fast. So terribly fast. He grabbed my collar, yanked my necklace and pushed me to the ground.”
Harry landed on his back on the dog bowl. This shattered, the shards cutting into Harry’s back. “I lay there in a daze for a moment,” Harry said. “Then I got up and told him to go away.”
“She was terribly sad”
William turned around and called out, “You don’t have to tell Megan anything about it.” “You mean,” Harry replied, “that you attacked me?” “I didn’t attack you, Harold,” William said. Apparently, Harry didn’t tell his wife about it immediately, but called his therapist.
When Meghan later noticed the “scratches and bruises” on his back, Harry told her everything. She was “not particularly surprised and not particularly angry”. “She was terribly sad.” (kes)
