Peter Lauener goes to a political agency
Berset’s former right-hand man becomes a lobbyist
Peter Lauener, formerly the right hand of Federal Councilor Alain Berset, has a new job. He works for the political consulting firm Les Tailleurs in Bern. Lauener left his post at the federal government because proceedings are pending against him for breaching official secrecy.

Alain Berset’s ex-head of communications, Peter Lauener (left) has a new job.
Alain Berset’s (50) ex-head of communications, Peter Lauener (52), has found a new job. He joins a small Bernese political consulting agency called Les Tailleurs Communication, as “persoenlich.com” reports.
Lauener spent several days in custody last year. He was suspected of breaching official secrecy in connection with the Crypto affair. The special investigator Peter Marti (70), who was deployed at the time, had him arrested after a house search. Lauener then left his position in the interior department.
Special Counsel vs. Special Counsel
The procedure against the ex-Federal Council intimate is still ongoing. But meanwhile also something against Marti: Because of a lawsuit by Lauener, another special investigator is now investigating the special investigator.
He may have abused his office in extending his investigation into the Crypto affair to include leaks in Berset’s department. The presumption of innocence applies to both. (tom)
