Rarely has a new member of the Federal Council faced such a strong headwind as Albert Rösti (55). The Swiss Energy Foundation, for example, collects money to keep an eye on the SVP Energy Minister. And at the University of Geneva there are posters critical of Rösti. Meanwhile, the head of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications Department (UVEK) is not making the start of his life in the Federal Council any easier by choosing his right hand.

As several sources confirm the tweet of a “Republic” journalist, Rösti makes a confidante of Christoph Blocher (82) his Secretary General: Yves Bichsel (51). He was once SVP spokesman and party secretary. Blocher brought him to the Justice Department in 2004. After that, Bichsel – from the point of view of his critics – also served as his spy in the Federal Palace for Ueli Maurer (72) until he moved to the canton of Bern. And now he should look to the right side of the hash browns.
