Confederation continues energy saving campaign

Although the savings efforts and other measures are bearing fruit, the federal government is sticking to its energy saving campaign. Because people are already looking towards the winter of 2023/24.

Without Russian gas, gas supplies could become more difficult next year.

The Swiss population has been diligently saving electricity since the start of the federal government’s energy-saving campaign. Households and businesses consumed 13 percent less in September compared to the average for the past seven years.

The savings efforts and other measures ensure a certain relaxation on the energy front. A new study commissioned by the federal government comes to the conclusion that the security of electricity supply in Switzerland will not be seriously endangered in the winter of 2022/23. However, depending on the scenario, supply bottlenecks cannot be ruled out.
