Going on the offensive with their environmental initiative: the Young Greens of Switzerland. (archive image)
The Secretary General of the Young Greens, Vera Becker, told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Friday that more than 100,000 signatures had been signed.
The Environmental Responsibility Initiative requires the constitution to state that environmental protection is now the number one priority. Switzerland should produce and import in such a way that the livelihoods of the population are preserved in the long term.
It is also required that Switzerland’s environmental pollution be reduced within ten years in such a way that the planet’s resilience limits are observed.
In recent years, the economy and profits have been placed above everything else, according to the Greens. The environment and sustainability have become a “nice to have”.
