Federal Council does not want to lower petrol prices

Petrol stations in Ticino recorded a drastic slump. Because customers have been filling up outside the border since the Italian state made fuel cheaper. Swiss tenants are trembling at the ancillary costs because energy prices are out of whack. However, the Federal Council is against immediate measures to cushion the rise in petrol and diesel prices, as several middle-class parliamentarians are demanding.

This is what the Federal Council wrote in its response to the various proposals published on Thursday. He is aware of the challenges surrounding the increased energy prices. However, he does not see an immediate need for measures.
