After wave of resignations
“Friends of the Constitution” face dissolution
Several members of the board of the “Friends of the Constitution” have announced their resignation. At the same time they propose the dissolution of the association. It is unclear how the organization of critics of the Corona measures will continue.
The “Friends of the Constitution” were founded in July 2020, and now they may be coming to an end.
The association “Friends of the Constitution” is on the verge of collapse. On Sunday evening, seven members of the Friends of the Constitution announced that they would be stepping down from the board – “due to irreconcilable differences”. As a result, the organization will lose all active service providers who have made the club successful, according to the statement.
The reason for the move was “irreconcilable differences,” wrote Prisca Guanter, previously co-president of the association, Christina Rüdiger, Agnès Aedo, Sandro Meier and Oliver Martin in a statement on Sunday.
The communiqué bore the association’s logo. It was also signed by the advisory board members Marion Russek and Timon Boehm. They also give up their positions.
Three remaining members on the board
As of next Friday, the board of directors will only consist of three members, it said. He is no longer able to act. With the resignations, the organization loses “all the top performers who are still active”.
The three remaining members of the Management Board initially did not comment. Her resigning board colleagues wrote that they thought it would make sense to dissolve the association. Alternatively, according to the announcement, new elections are also conceivable.
It is proposed that the remaining association capital be distributed among the organizations “Action Alliance Urkantone”, “Teacher Network”, “Aufrecht Switzerland”, “Juristenkomitee” and “Aletheia”, wrote the resigning.
Pandemic provided an upswing
It is not the first quarrel among the board members. The association announced the resignation of its spokesman Michael Bubendorf in mid-December. Co-President Werner Boxler also left the “Friends of the Constitution” at the end of the year.
Then in January came the next bang. Almost all board members stated that they had turned their backs on the Corona Skeptics Association. However, Christina Rüdiger, who has now announced her resignation, remained.
The “Friends of the Constitution” were founded in July 2020. The association became nationally known in particular for its criticism of the corona protection measures during the pandemic and the two referendums against the Covid 19 law. (SDA/you)
