Evaluation in Parliament shows
SVP lost more votes than the Greens
No faction was on the side of the losers as often as the SVP last year in the Federal Palace. In the referendums, too, she was far less able to convince the citizens than before.

Didn’t have much to laugh about: the SVP and its party president Marco Chiesa only won every second vote in parliament last year.
According to an evaluation by the “Sonntagszeitung”, none of the major parties lost as often in parliament and at the ballot box in 2022 as the SVP. Last year, the People’s Party won only about every second vote in parliament with 51 percent. This is particularly surprising because nobody occupies more seats in the National Council than the SVP.
On the other hand, the center under its President Gerhard Pfister (60) had much more to celebrate: it won the most votes in the Federal Palace, namely 88 percent. Der Freisinn is in second place with 83 percent. The votes from three sessions in Parliament were taken into account.
Even the Greens (64 percent) and the SP (65 percent) can claim more success in the Bundestag than the SVP.
GLP wins the most votes
The analysis of referendums is similar. Under its party leader Marco Chiesa (48), the SVP won only every second referendum (52 percent) in 2021/2022. The Greens were able to convince the electorate more often with 54 percent. In 2017/2018, the Swiss voted more often – in 59 percent of the votes – for the slogan of the SVP.
The GLP won the most referendums in 2021 and 2022. A total of 41 referendums were evaluated.
Political twins in Parliament
It’s no secret that the SP and the Greens are very close to each other thematically. But the research shows that members of the two factions were actually almost political twins last year: In the left camp, the SP and the Greens voted the same in 94 percent of the cases.
Of 953 votes in the National Council last year, the two parties only disagreed in 18 cases. In the right-wing camp, the SVP and FDP were congruent in 58 percent of all votes. (you)
