The Federal Council regulates the operation of reserve power plants and emergency power groups
If there is a shortage of electricity in winter, reserve power plants and emergency power groups should help to overcome the bottlenecks. The Federal Council has put the ordinance required for its operation into force.

This regulates the operation of the systems designated for the reserve for the period from Thursday (December 22) to May 31, 2023, as announced by the Federal Office of Energy. Limit values of the Clean Air Ordinance and the limitation of the number of operating hours are temporarily lifted for the systems.
The Department for the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (UVEK) specifies measures to limit noise and air pollutants individually with the operating permits for the facilities.
