The federal government is examining mobility pricing in three cities
The federal government is examining project ideas for mobility pricing in Biel, Frauenfeld and Geneva as well as in the cantons of Aargau and Zug. A feasibility study is also being carried out for an SBB project idea, as the Federal Roads Office (Astra) announced on Thursday.
Mobility pricing is intended to relieve inner city traffic – the federal government is now examining five project ideas in depth. (archive image)
The projects from the participating cities aim to relieve the inner cities of motorized private transport by means of a new tax. In addition, the passenger volume in public transport with different prices at peak and off-peak times should be better managed, as the communication further shows. This is also the aim of the SBB project idea.
The project idea for the cantons of Aargau and Zug is about testing people’s price sensitivity. It is still open whether pilot projects will also be carried out after the feasibility studies.
