Think tanks see Swiss democracy under pressure
Democracy is under pressure and Switzerland is facing a variety of challenges. This is how seven think tanks see it, which in the working paper “Construction Site Democracy” provide suggestions such as a neutral cloud for information and a fundamental right to naturalization.
Several think tanks see turbulent times for democracy and Switzerland as a whole. Their trend researchers identify the challenges and propose solutions in a joint working paper. (icon picture)
The trend researchers at the think tanks name the challenges and focus on five topics: Switzerland in the world, prevented participation, difficulties in obtaining information, rapid crises and democratic fatigue. The working paper was published on Friday, according to a statement.
The paper “Construction Site Democracy” was suggested by the Mercator Switzerland Foundation and the Swiss Non-Profit Society. The Swiss think tanks (think tanks) Avenir Suisse, Denknetz, Dezentrum, Foraus, Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute GDI, Institut Neue Schweiz INES and Reatch were involved.
The think tanks name the challenges together, but give individual answers to the question of what measures are necessary.
