In order to close the impending energy gap, wind turbines are to be rapidly expanded in addition to water and solar energy. The competent National Council Commission relies on “accelerated approval procedures” without scratching constitutional principles.
The Commission for the Environment, Energy and Spatial Planning of the National Council (Urek) wants to quickly realize an additional annual production of one terawatt hour of renewable electricity, as the parliamentary services announced on Tuesday. The corresponding draft law was passed by a vote of 18 to 7. The bill is to be discussed by Parliament in the spring session of 2023. The Federal Council can take a stand beforehand.
In concrete terms, the building permits for advanced wind energy projects are to be issued by the canton and the associated legal procedures are to be shortened. It is a central concern of the Commission that the bill does not give rise to any constitutional doubts, according to the statement. (SDA)
