Recently only victories: Goalie Schlegel can suddenly celebrate in series.

HC Lugano has won three games in a row for the first time since November. The consequence? The advance in the table to rank 10 – at the expense of cantonal rival Ambri. The top 6 and the direct playoff qualification remain out of reach with a deficit of 10 points, but in this form Lugano would be a crisp challenge in the pre-playoffs. Five reasons to switch:
trust
The players have always praised young coach Luca Gianinazzi (30), the man can do something, his system is good. Only one has not really seen this on the ice. The two wins over the weekend against the ZSC Lions were a boost and strengthened confidence in what you’re doing. The team now appears with a broader chest.
constancy
The Luganesi always had a good game. But they didn’t manage to be consistent and were sometimes subject to massive fluctuations within the games. Now the plan is suddenly being pushed through and you can’t be dissuaded when the opponent puts pressure on you. Lugano seems to have found its consistency.
stability
Lugano is suddenly much more confident on the defensive than just a few weeks ago. This is not least due to the commitment of Lukas Klok, who exemplifies this regained stability. The Czech is not a man for the spectacle, but one who wins duels. The Nati defender Mirco Müller, who has been playing below his potential in Lugano so far, has recently become much stronger.

miracle man
Nobody expected that: The clear number 2 in goal Niklas Schlegel is currently outperforming the Finnish star goalie Mikko Koskinen, who was not always convincing. Schlegel, whose contract expires at the end of the season, was between the posts in the last three wins and played well. It wouldn’t be surprising if the experienced Koskinen responded at the next opportunity – with performance. And then suddenly Lugano would have a brilliant goalie duo.
Storm urge
If Lugano are tight at the back, you can find someone up front who can make the difference. For example Markus Granlund, who is in good spirits after recovering from a shoulder injury. Marco Müller, who has a hot stick. Or Daniel Carr, who is getting better and better. And then there’s also Brett Connolly, Mark Arcobello, Luca Fazzini and Calvin Thürkauf.
