Brazilians cause a murmur in the hall
Ailton is first chance death, then match winner
Ailton was never the liveliest. The small field at the indoor tournament in Oldenburg (D) suits him. At first the Brazilian sins badly in the end, but then – like in his best days – he becomes the match winner.

It took Werder Bremen legend Ailton a while to rediscover his nose for goals.
Every year the indoor tournament of the traditional teams takes place in Oldenburg. In front of more than 5500 spectators, Bundesliga legends conjure up all their skills on the artificial turf. The legendary striker Ailton is also there this year. In the service of the Werder-Bremen selection, he should provide the goals.
But at first it seems as if the now 49-year-old has gradually lost his eye for goals. The goalgetter, who was once so cold-blooded, carelessly leaves several chances against a Turkey selection.
But then Ailton does what the fans of Werder Bremen, Schalke and later also GC loved him so much for: The little striker gets the ball served via a gang on the edge of the penalty area. Ailton takes the template volley and hits the far corner without frills.
Memories of the “stall magic” of the 90s
Along with team-mates Nelson Valdez, Marko Marin and Aaron Hunt, Ailton makes for an overall clear game against the Turks. Bremen moves into the final. And there Ailton lets his skills flash again. He initiated his team’s victory in the final against the legends of 1. FC Köln with a goal. In the end Werder won clearly 6:1.
The indoor tournament of legends has been taking place since 2004. It is organized by the former German national goalkeeper Dieter Burdenski. The hall spectacle is reminiscent of the “stall magic” from the 90s. At that time, the German Football Association organized an indoor tournament during the winter break, but with active players.
