Simon Ehammer wins the heptathlon in Aubière with a strong 6292 points. Exactly one year ago, the Appenzell native launched the dream season 2022 at this all-around event in France and scored a few fewer points than in 2023. As the runner-up at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, he then increased the Swiss record to 6363 points .
On the second day, the soon to be 23-year-old managed the 60 m hurdle sprint in Aubière in 7.71 seconds – only 5 hundredths more than Jason Joseph’s best time of the season in Switzerland. With 5.11 m in the pole vault and 2:51.33 minutes over 1000 m, further great performances followed. In the final 1000m, however, Ehammer has to grit his teeth after ramming a knee in his face while pole vaulting and getting a bloody nose. (SDA)
