HC Ambri-Piotta will return to the Spengler Cup in 2023.
Shortly before the turn of the year, HC Ambri-Piotta celebrates the greatest success in its club history: the Leventiners win the legendary Spengler Cup in Davos, and in the final they beat Sparta Prague dramatically in a penalty shoot-out. Your fans create a great atmosphere, transforming the ice rink in the Landwassertal into a witch’s cauldron.
Only a few days after the triumph, the defending champion was invited back to this year’s tournament by the hosts and gratefully accepted. “It will be a special honor for us to compete in the anniversary tournament and try to defend the title,” Ambri President Filippo Lombardi said in a statement.
The defending champion is traditionally invited to the tournament the following year. After 2019 and 2022, Ambri is taking part in the traditional tournament for the third time.
In addition to the Ticino team, HC Davos, Team Canada and Frölunda HC from Sweden have already been confirmed as participants in the 2023 Spengler Cup. (bjl)
