Resign: Gareth Bale.
After “careful and mature consideration”, Gareth Bale has decided to hang up his football boots. At the age of 33, the offensive player announced his immediate retirement via Twitter.
He played most matches for Tottenham and Real Madrid. The most successful time in sport was with the Royals, who wooed him from the Spurs for 100 million euros in 2013: He was Spanish champion three times and champions league winner five times. Unforgotten is his acrobatic dream goal in the 2018 final against Liverpool (see video above). His last employer was Los Angeles FC.
Bale made 111 appearances for Wales. He scored his 40th and last goal for his native country at the World Cup in Qatar in a 1-1 draw against the USA. Both numbers are national records. (yup)
