Biathlon exploit in Pokljuka
Baserga and Hartweg are on the podium in relay
Strong Swiss World Cup performance in Slovenia: Amy Baserga and Niklas Hartweg finish third in the single mixed relay.
Fast duo: Amy Baserga and Niklas Hartweg.
Another Swiss biathlon exclamation point this winter! This time in the single-mixed relay, consisting of the in-form Amy Baserga and Niklas Hartweg, who both contest a very strong race. The duo is particularly impressive when it comes to shooting – with just eight spare rounds and no penalty loops.
Only the Norwegian team Indrig Tandrevold/Vetle Christiansen and the French team Lou Jeanmonnot/Antonin Guigonnat are faster and more efficient than the Swiss team.
Podium premiere
In contrast to the mixed relay, Switzerland has never been on the podium in this relatively young discipline, which can be compared to the team sprint in cross-country skiing. The best result so far has gone to Lena Häcki-Gross and Benjamin Weger, who finished 5th at the 2020 World Championships in Antholz.
It is also a podium premiere for Baserga, who achieved her best World Cup result. Hartweg already ran onto an individual podium in second place at the beginning of the season in Kontiolahti (Fin). (mpe/sda)
