Marco Odermatt is likely to return to Cortina – but how strong?

From a Swiss point of view, the first of two races in Cortina is the most explosive Super-G of this World Cup winter. Why? Marco Odermatt will most likely compete on the 2021 World Cup slope for the first time since suffering a meniscus contusion on the first Hahnenkamm descent in Kitzbühel.
Now the question arises whether the six-time winner of the season is in top form again after the shock in the Streif steep slope? The man from Nidwalden trained yesterday with his teammates in San Pellegrino – a good hour’s drive from Bozen. Odermatt was very good in terms of times, but the giant slalom Olympic champion was not completely free of pain after this training session. But if nothing unexpected comes up during the break-in on Saturday morning, Odermatt will be at the start of the fifth Super-G this season.
In the battle for the small Super-G ball, Odermatt is currently 28 points ahead of Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. But beware: the Norwegian travels to Italy with a lot of self-confidence after the downhill victory in Kitzbühel and the surprising top 8 ranking at the giant in Schladming.
