Chaos at our World Cup opponent Serbia

The Serbian Football Association is without a president three weeks before the start of the World Cup. A solution does not appear to be in sight in the near future either. What is going on with our World Cup opponent?

Nenad Bjeković will not become president of the Serbian Football Association.

Everything was set for the election of Nenad Bjekovic as President of the Football Association of Serbia. The association has been without a proper chairman since March 2021. The 74-year-old has been in office on an interim basis since then. Now he should be officially elected and start a four-year term. But things turned out differently.

The meeting of the Serbian Football Association took place on Monday. The agenda included the election of the new President. Bjekovic was the only candidate for the post. The whole thing seems to be a mere formality. But the election could not be held. The reason: Most delegates boycotted the event. The association postponed the meeting to Tuesday.
