Dani Alves is no longer a player of UNAM Pumas.
There are serious allegations against Dani Alves. The Brazilian is said to have sexually harassed a 23-year-old woman. On Friday, the 39-year-old was taken into custody by the local police in Barcelona. Now his club UNAM Pumas has pulled the ripcord.
In a statement, the university club from the Mexican capital announces that it is parting ways with the defender: “Club Universidad Nacional has made the decision to terminate the employment contract with player Daniel Alves with immediate effect. With this decision, the club reaffirms its obligation not to tolerate any actions by members of our institution that violate the spirit and values of the university,” said President Leopoldo Silva.
Alves has been under contract with the Pumas since July 2022. It is now up to the court to decide what measures to take against the former Barça star. In Spain, sexual assault carries a prison sentence of several years. (mab)
