Lucien Favre has to digest a cup shame with Nice.
The trip to Le Puy-en-Velay should not have been more than a must for Nice. Getting ahead in the first round of the French Cup against the third division was considered a formality.
But for the team of coach Lucien Favre and defender Jordan Lotomba (substitute), the journey ended in debacle. It suffered a 1-0 defeat against Le Puy. The Coupe de France is already over for the southern French.
But Nice are not the only Ligue 1 club to make a fool of themselves at the start of the competition. For example, AS Monaco has already been eliminated. The team, which played at home against second division Rodez without Breel Embolo, lost their match after a 2-0 lead in a penalty shootout. (cat)
