Attention, ready, full throttle! The Danish national ice hockey team got off to a great start at the World Championships. The team of ex-Langnau coach Heinz Ehlers – actually known for his tough defensive hockey – wins his opening match 9:1. With Kazakhstan, Denmark also received the blatant outsider of the tournament as their starting opponent in Helsinki.

Forward Joachim Blichfeld (23), who is under contract with San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League, contributed a hat-trick to the smashing win. Ambri defender Peter Regin (36) can also score a goal at the Schützenfest. Denmark thus temporarily takes the lead in Group A, in which Switzerland also plays.
