Despite being in the lead, Switzerland loses to Poland
The Swiss Basket-Nati did not succeed in the preliminary qualification for the 2025 European Championship on Thursday. Ilias Papatheodorou’s team lost to Poland 64-79 in Lublin, conceding their second defeat in the third game of the second phase.

Roberto Kovac (16 points) and his teammates were up to the 26th minute on an equal footing with their opponent, fourth in the last European Championship. At this point they were still leading 45-44, having been five points clear at halftime (37-32) despite the 10-0 they conceded in the first 3:48 of the game.
But Poland, who had the upper hand under the boards (44 rebounds to Switzerland’s 31), forced the decider in the last four minutes of the third quarter. Poland secured victory with a 15-0 series.
