Jan Dalgic was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor on his 25th birthday.
Jan Dalgic turned 25 on January 4th. He will never forget this birthday. Because on this day he receives the devastating diagnosis: He has a malignant brain tumor.
The goalie of the German cult third division team Hannover Indians, who attracts an average of 2,600 spectators per game in the stadium at the Pferdeturm, had previously been “probably unconscious for 20 minutes, then was back and called the ambulance himself,” said Indians managing director Andy Gysau to the SID news agency.
The tumor is to be surgically removed on Friday in a private clinic in Hanover. “Unfortunately, the costs of the difficult operation and the subsequent aftercare are very expensive,” writes Dalgin’s association. “Therefore, the Hanover Indians are asking the German ice hockey family for support for Jan Dalgic’s family. Jan Dalgic is a fighter who now has to go through the hardest path of his young life. He will not walk this path alone.”
Over 50,000 euros already donated
NHL superstar Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton) and German Ambri defender Tobias Fohrler shared the collection campaign on social media, among others. And the call for donations “It’s the SAVE of his life” is answered. The echo is huge, the solidarity with the goalie is huge.
A day later, the Indians write: «The intermediate result for the fundraising campaign is really great. The first financial pressure for Jan and his family is gone. But of course we won’t sit back and relax, we’ll continue at full steam.” Over 50,000 euros have already been collected. (sr)
