Marco Pescioreporter sports
Fantastic Swiss start at the 17th Tour de Ski: Nadine Fähndrich leaves everyone standing again. The 27-year-old from central Switzerland, who recently triumphed in Beitostölen and Davos, is also the fastest in the skating sprint in Val Müstair.
Fähndrich clearly prevailed against the competition in the final, relegating the Swede Maja Dahlqvist (+0.47 seconds) and the Norwegian Lotta Udnes Weng (+0.62) to second and third place respectively. What a show of power! Fähndrich’s third sprint victory in a row also comes off well – from the prologue to the final, she has everything under control.
record extended
It was only in Davos that she broke the Swiss record for women’s wins, and now she’s even expanding it two weeks later at the next home World Cup. The Eigenthaler now has four individual World Cup triumphs.
For the further course of the Tour de Ski, Fähndrich has put himself in a top starting position: Thanks to the sprint success, she creams off 60 bonus seconds. The mass start race over 10 km in classic technique follows on Sunday – also in Münstertal.

Riebli just beaten
For the men, Janik Riebli and Valerio Grond set a Swiss exclamation mark with their semi-final qualifications. After good performances, both win their respective quarter-finals, but before the next heat ends. Riebli narrowly missed the final and ended up seventh. Grond is in ninth place.
Norway’s top all-rounder Johannes Hösflot Kläbo took the win ahead of Italy’s Federico Pellegrino (+0.18) and compatriot Sindre Björnestad Skar (+2.19).
