Only Fiala victorious
Another bankruptcy for Hischier and Siegenthaler
After the longest away win streak in club history, the New Jersey Devils are not moving their legs. Against Carolina they conceded the sixth defeat in a row. Kevin Fiala cheers for that.
1/5
The New Jersey Devils are not doing well at the moment. Captain Nico Hischier’s team conceded against the Carolina Hurricanes for the seventh time in a row.
The New Jersey Devils won eleven away games in a row through December 13. They won 22 of 25 games. In the NHL table, they were the best team together with the Boston Bruins. That was until December 10th. Since the 6-4 home loss to the New York Islanders, the New Jersey Devils have not been doing well at all.
On Wednesday night, the Devils with Swiss players Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler lost 4-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Devils are slowly becoming frustrated: “We gave everything in this game. We fought immaculately. But we beat ourselves with individual mistakes. It’s very frustrating,” said Captain Nico Hischier. “We are slowly getting to a point where this is no longer acceptable. We beat ourselves game after game!”
Only Fiala can cheer
The Devils shot twice as often as the Hurricanes (40:20 shots). New Jersey, however, lacked efficiency and positional mistakes allowed the opposition to counterattack in numbers. After 26 minutes the game was at least pre-determined with the score being 3-0 for Carolina.
It’s not just the New Jersey Devils who aren’t currently running as they wish. Tim Berni made his ninth NHL appearance with the Columbus Blue Jackets (3-5 in Philadelphia), but lost for the seventh time. Timo Meier scored a goal and provided an assist for the San Jose Sharks in the 7-3 home loss to Calgary. After Meier’s 3-3 equalizer in the final section (17th goal of the season), the Sharks fell apart and still conceded in the last ten minutes four goals conceded.
Almost only Kevin Fiala can be satisfied with the Los Angeles Kings at the moment. The Kings won the derby against Anaheim 4-1, Fiala scoring his tenth goal of the season. The Kings are 2nd (division) and 4th (conference) in the standings, with good prospects for the playoffs. (SDA)
