Zurich high five, Basel hang their heads: Alex Frei after the 0-0 win against FCZ.

Stefan Kreis and Sebastian Wendel

Alex Frei is usually alpha after games. Self-assured. A man who knows what he is doing. Convinced of himself. After the 0-0 win against FCZ in the classic game, Switzerland’s record goalscorer seemed a little at a loss for once. For the third time in a row, FCB remain without a goal in the league, the euphoria has given way to consternation after the victories against GC (5:1) and FCSG (3:2).

Basel lodges a pitch protest – SFL investigates Henriksen

The classic crisis between Basel and FCZ on Thursday continues to reverberate. FCZ coach Bo Henriksen (47) was sent off with a red card. During the break, however, he is said to have gone into the stadium catacombs, which he apparently should not have done. According to “blue”, FC Basel therefore lodged a field protest during the break, which was also signed by both parties. The protest will now be confirmed and examined by the league in the next few days.

Case against Henriksen

The league also announced that Henriksen was being investigated: “The disciplinary judge in the Swiss Football League’s game operations department opened proceedings against Bo Henriksen for further clarification after his dismissal on Thursday against FC Basel (0-0) for leaving his technical zone and his conduct towards the 4th official. The first suspension is automatic, so the Danish coach will not be able to take a seat on the bench in the Limmat derby against GC on Sunday.

It’s his fault, says Alex Frei. So far, he has failed to come up with any solutions on how he wants to end the misery. He scored a measly 1.27 points in the first eleven league games of the season, the worst record for an FCB coach in 25 years during this period.
