A real hype has arisen about Niclas Füllkrug’s tooth gap.

In Germany everyone is currently raving about one name – Niclas Füllkrug. A year ago that was utopian. The 29-year-old is about to be eliminated from Werder Bremen in the 2nd Bundesliga. He is unsatisfied. With God and the world. After the 3-0 defeat against Darmstadt, he almost lets out his frustration to sports director Clemens Fritz. Only Bremen’s substitute goalie prevents the striker from striking. This is shown by an episode of the documentary “One year in the second division”.
“Maybe he needs exactly such a situation to get a run,” says his strike partner Marvin Ducksch. Well, «Orakel-Duckschi», as he is now called, is supposed to be right. Because since then it has been running like clockwork. He is the most accurate German striker. He has scored 29 goals since that game – ten of them in the 1st Bundesliga.
The national player has only been a filling jug for two weeks. He has already scored twice in three partial missions. No wonder several clubs have put out feelers for him – including Bayern Munich. However, Bremen is only willing to talk to “an immoral offer”, Fritz told “Sport Bild”.
The “gap” closes the gap
In Füllkrug’s career, things have not always gone as smoothly as they currently do. He took many detours. In addition, injuries have thrown him back again and again. Three cartilage damages, a cruciate ligament tear, a tear of the ankle ligament are excerpts from his injury history.
However, the trademark of Füllkrug, the large tooth gap, cannot be attributed to any injury. A brace opened the gap so wide. “The gap was widened to create enough space for an implant,” he once explained.
The “gap” is now well on its way to filling the gap in the German storm. Ever since Miroslav Klose, Germany has been waiting for a classic centre-forward. Someone who can cause chaos in the opponent’s penalty area and who can convert full-backs’ crosses as ice-cold.
Nobody knows better
Füllkrug does not see himself as the hope of a whole nation for the World Cup. Rather, he wants the mood in Germany to improve towards the World Cup and the national team. One had the feeling that one or the other was happy about the failure. “Which I found very unfortunate,” he comments. He adds, “We’re just extremely happy as a team when we’re supported.”
Goals and achievements are the best way to improve mood. Nobody knows that better than a filling jug. The next task on Thursday is Costa Rica.
