Germany’s handball players suffer the first setback at the World Cup: The last group game against Norway is lost 26:28 – it is the first defeat for the reinvigorated European champions of 2016.
Second in the group, the Germans meet record world champions France (six titles) in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. The French prevailed on Sunday in a duel for group victory against Spain. The Iberians are now playing against Norway.
In the remaining quarter-finals, European champions Sweden will meet Egypt, and defending champions Denmark will face Hungary.
