The magic moment: Wilfried Gnonto scores a wonderful volley against Cardiff.
26 seconds! That’s how long it took Wilfried Gnonto after kick-off before he gave Leeds the lead against Cardiff (League 2) in the third round of the FA Cup. His volley is one for the history books. Not just because it was scored after a few seconds. But also because the goal is more than worth seeing. After a cross from Rodrigo, Gnonto hits the ball directly under the crossbar with his right foot. Untenable. The ranks explode behind the goal, the little Italian (1.70 meters) is celebrated. On site and on social media.
After 36 minutes then the second prank. Gnonto makes the Cardiff defense look old with a feint, then the ex-FCZ star closes wonderfully in the near corner. It’s 3-0 for Leeds. In the end it was 5:2, Gnonto was over after 67 minutes.
Gnonto is in top form. In the Premier League, he celebrated his goal debut against West Ham at the beginning of January. He previously had an assist against Bournemouth. Now the double pack in the cup. The Italian seems to have definitely arrived on the island. (mum)
