Gody Goloubef (h.) lets Michael Raffl fly into the gang.

SC Bern not only lost points against Lausanne (2:5) on Tuesday, but also two players in one action! It was at the beginning of the second period when Benjamin Baumgartner ran into a check by his Austrian compatriot Michael Raffl and injured himself. This was actually correct, but a so-called “late hit”, which should have been sanctioned with 2 minutes.
But Raffl got away without a penalty. And this, in turn, did not suit Cody Goloubef at all. The 33-year-old SCB defender became an avenger and ugly checked Raffl into the gang from behind when he was in a duel with Beat Gerber.
No drama for Raffl
It looked bad, but luckily Raffl was able to keep playing. Afterwards, in an interview with MySports, the 34-year-old Lausanne striker, steeled from over 600 NHL games, did not want to dramatize this foul: “If you want to dish out, you have to be able to take it! The check on me was maybe a bit of a revenge situation, but that’s in ice hockey.”
Lausanne HC – SC Bern 5: 2: Sekac does the SCB single-handedly(03:59)
After the video study by the referees Daniel Stricker and Stefan Hürlimann, Goloubef was punished with a 5-minute penalty without remaining exclusion for a gang check. But the league’s legal department does not agree with this verdict and as a precaution banned the Canadian on Wednesday and opened proceedings against him.
Baumgartner will be out until the end of the year
The SCB is gradually running out of players before the important game on Thursday against promoted Kloten. In addition to the long-term absentees Gélinas, Kahun, Lehmann and Henauer, the suspended Goloubef and Baumgartner are now missing due to upper body injuries. After all, this shouldn’t be too bad, SCB expects his return in January.
Association Sports Court subsequently blocks Grossmann
EHC Biel will have to do without Robin Grossmann in the two championship games before the Christmas break on Thursday in Rapperswil and on Friday against Bern. The 35-year-old defender was subsequently suspended for two games by the association sports court.
Grossmann had injured Lugano’s Daniel Carr during a check against the boards in the championship game on December 3, but the single judge responsible for the association decided against a suspension. HC Lugano has now successfully appealed against this judgement. (SDA)
