In its long history, the Spengler Cup has written many special stories. Another one will be added today. Because HC Davos has an away game waiting for them in the Swiss semi-final against Ambri (8.15 p.m.) in their own stadium! This is confirmed by OC boss Marc Gianola: “We expect that there will be more Ambri fans than Davos fans in the stadium.”
But how is that possible? Despite Ambri’s participation, the Spengler Cup still takes place in Davos. Gianola: «The Ambri fans knew a day and a half earlier than the HCD fans that their team was in this semi-final game. They had more time to stock up on tickets and they did.”
Both fan camps in a standing room curve
But that’s not all: The two fan camps also have to share the standing room curve! But how? HCD and Ambri fans all over the place? Gianola: «No, not that. One on the left, the other on the right.” If that works out?
Gianola definitely believes in a peaceful hockey party on Friday evening: “I don’t see any problems there. The two fan groups of Ambri and Davos are well disposed and the Ultras are not here.” In addition, there would be enough security guards in the stadium. Nevertheless, this situation is unique.
