After the numerous good World Cup results this winter, there is further movement in the Swiss biathlon scene. The home European Championships in Lenzerheide begin today with the individual races (10.15 a.m. women/15 km, 2 p.m. men/20 km) – it is the starting signal for a series of major events in the Grisons winter sports resort.
Next season the Biathlon World Cup will stop in Lenzerheide (December 11th to 17th). And in February 2025 the big highlight will follow: the home world championship.
The current EM serves as a dress rehearsal for the Roland Arena in Lantsch/Lenz, the only biathlon stadium in Switzerland with an A license. In terms of sport, the event can be classified as second-class. The top athletes are clearly focusing on the World Championships starting on February 6th in Oberhof (De) and the World Cup. Nevertheless, Swiss-Ski has listed the entire Swiss World Cup team. However, how Hartweg, Baserga and Co. will actually be used will be decided at short notice. (mpe)
