Crisis summit, strike list, trainer criticism
It seethes in football Germany
Germany starts the first week after the renewed World Cup embarrassment. Unlike four years ago, we now want plain text.

Open your mouth instead of shutting your mouth: Goalie Neuer shows what the DFB bosses are doing this week.
Soccer Germany is on the ground – but not passed out. After returning home from Qatar as early as possible, a first step out of the football crisis is already pending. On Wednesday morning, national coach Hansi Flick (57) and DFB managing director Oliver Bierhoff (54) have to trot in Frankfurt in the association headquarters, as “Sky” and “Bild” know.
The two bosses will face the iron gaze of DFB President Bernd Neuendorf (61) and Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke (63). Do they get off with a black eye?
Crucial days for Flick and Bierhoff
World Champion Captain Philipp Lahm (39) expresses great criticism of the national coach. “It would have been important to decide on an axis for central defense before the tournament and play it in. Unfortunately, that was not the case,” he writes for the “RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland”.
And Bierhoff does not get away well with Lothar Matthäus (61). The World Cup record player with 25 games: “We’ve had bad years, Oliver Bierhoff is on board – and you have to question him too.” Already in 2018 Germany was eliminated in the group phase.
No job guarantee for Flick and Bierhoff
Before the flight home, the German association boss Bernd Neuendorf faces the media. He does not want to give a job guarantee for coach Hansi Flick and managing director Oliver Bierhoff. There should be a crisis meeting with Flick, Bierhoff and league boss Hans-Joachim Watzke in the next few weeks. “My expectation of the sporting management is that they carry out an initial analysis at this meeting, a sporting analysis of this tournament, but that they also develop perspectives for the time after the tournament with a view to the 2024 European Championships in their own country,” says Neuendorf .

After the crisis summit and the DFB executive committee meeting on Friday, the German media expect plain text. Unlike after the debacle in Russia in 2018, after which “the then national coach Löw, together with Bierhoff, analyzed the team’s mistakes for weeks”, as the “Bild” recalls.
Even Neuer is being shaken up
Not only the bosses get their fat off, also the players. Matthäus presents his scratch list at “Bild”: “Except for Rüdiger, we had problems everywhere in the back.” Left-back space in particular got disappointing. You can’t rely on Süle. And: “I would say that was the case with Götze too.”
Germany malice: “That’s pure envy!”(01:31)
Thomas Müller fueled his national team exit after the last group game with his possible parting words himself (“I did it with love”). And “Focus.de” demands that Manuel Neuer should not be undisputed either.
What is certain is that there is little time for change. In just 18 months, Germany will host the European Championships at home. Matthäus doesn’t just paint black: “Wirtz and Musiala together, that will be fun.” (str)
